Safety equipment is what you should wear on your body if you dont want to get hurt while you are riding.   You will fall off of your skateboard It is always a shock and it usually hurts.  There is a misconception about safety equipment being ursafety cool.  Riders who push it harder wear safety equipment.  Look at any professional  at any action sport what do you see.  They all  wear it.  The ones who dont will pay for it now or later its just a matter of time.  It is much cooler to have $150 to $4000 extra dollars to spend on new gear vs.  spending that on a cast, stitches, or orthoscopic surgery on your knee.  not to mention  you wont be doing much skateboarding while you are recovering from you wounds. just put in on and go for it.  Now there is no reason to not drop in on the big bowl,  or bomb that hill!  Be a real man or woman. safety first then get crazy.
